FastHaul has no ads, no accounts and no tracking. This page says exactly what stays on your device, what goes online and why, and what never happens. It covers the app and this website.
What stays on your device
Your Library, Albums, tags, favorites, settings, presets, download history and every file you save. None of it is sent anywhere. There is no FastHaul account and no FastHaul server that keeps anything about you.
When the app goes online
- To download what you ask for. FastHaul connects to the site of the link you gave it, the same way your browser would.
- To update its download engine. On Windows, FastHaul downloads yt-dlp and FFmpeg from their official pages and checks each file before it uses it. The engine updates itself about once a week so sites keep working.
- To check for a new version. At most every three hours, FastHaul reads one small signed file from GitHub or its jsDelivr copy (a few hundred bytes) that says which version is current.
Like any request on the internet, these show your IP address to the server they reach. FastHaul sends nothing about you with them: no ID, no account, no list of what you saved.
What never happens
No ads, no analytics, no crash reporters, no advertising IDs, no selling or sharing of data. FastHaul never uploads or shares anything for you.
Problem reports
If something goes wrong, FastHaul can make a report of your device and the last errors, with personal paths removed. You read it, copy it and send it yourself, if you want to. Nothing is sent on its own.
Permissions on Android
- Internet: to download and to check for updates.
- Notifications: to show a download's progress, and to keep a download going while you use other apps.
- Photos, videos and music: to show the files you saved in your Library and gallery, and to add your own videos when you choose to.
This website
No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, and nothing is loaded from other servers: even the font is kept here. If you choose a language or a theme, your browser remembers it in its own storage; it is never sent. The service that hosts the site may keep the usual technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
